The Ninth Annual Pediatric Luncheon

Making a Difference in a Child's Life
October 2, 2008, 11:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
Washington State Convention & Trade Center
$125 (suggested minimum donation)

Make a difference in the lives of children in your community by attending our annual Luncheon! This year’s main speaker is Sherman Alexie, local author, film writer/director, and poet. He won the 2007 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature for his book The Absolutely True Story of a Part-Time Indian. He will be speaking about grief and loss from the perspective of both a father and a son. We’re extremely excited to have him join us and believe his presence will be a huge draw for potential guests.

For more information or to RSVP, contact The Safe Crossings Foundation at 652-4SCF (4723) or email info@safecrossingsfoundation.org

Ocho Loved Flowers

We began a wonderful new collaboration with a local author, Anne Fontaine. Her charming book, Ocho Loved Flowers, is about a young child coping with the final illness and death of a cherished cat, Ocho. Our counselors highly recommend this book for any family with young children dealing with the loss or anticipated death of a loved one. Here is what one of our Safe Crossings Grief Counselors said in her review of the book:

"The book so lovingly addresses both the anticipatory grief period and bereavement.  The pictures are fresh and welcoming.  They capture the reality that hope and love can walk amidst the confusing and overwhelming feelings that can be part of the grief experience."

Please visit Anne's site to learn more and order the book. www.annieseries.com
